Cameras used for development¶
OptiTrack V100R2 (USB2.0)¶
Pros
Affordable price
No additional interface hardware is necessary (USB2.0 interface)
Embedded IR illumination (No additional IR light is necessary)
Cons
Relatively slow speed (100fps)
Note
Focal length of the genuine lens (f=4.5mm or 5.5mm) is too short for gaze tracking. M12-mout lens with longer focal length (e.g. 25mm) is necessary.
Camera should be placed near participant's face (less than 15cm-20cm from eye) to prevent bright pupil.
OptiTrack V120slim (USB2.0)¶
- Pros
Relatively affordable price (Although camera unit is not so expensive, IR illumination and CS-mount lens are necessary)
No additional interface hardware is necessary (USB2.0 interface)
- Cons
IR illumination and CS-mount lens are necessary
- Note
800nm IR pass filter option is highly recommended.
Toshiba Teli CleverDragon CSCV90BC3 (CameraLink Base configuration)¶
- Pros
Customizable camera speed
less expensive than ICL_B0620
- Cons
IR illumination and C-mount lens are necessary
CameraLink interface board is necessary
- Note
Inserting IR pass filter between the sensor and the lens would reduce measurement noise (see Why IR illumination is necessary?).
IMPERX Bobcat ICL-B0620 (CameraLink Base configuration)¶
- Pros
High-speed image capture (260fps in default, works at 500fps or higher depending on the recorder PC)
- Cons
expensive
IR illumination and C-mount lens are necessary
CameraLink interface board is necessary
- Note
Inserting IR pass filter between the sensor and the lens would reduce measurement noise (see Why IR illumination is necessary?).
imi tech IMB-11FT (IEEE1394a)¶
- Pros
This camera can be controlled from SimpleGazeTracker OpenCV edition. That is, this camera can be used with Win, Mac and Linux.
- Cons
IR illumination and CS-mount lens are necessary
Not so fast (up to 86Hz).
Some camera parameters cannot be correctly set through OpenCV.
- Note
Inserting IR pass filter between the sensor and the lens would reduce measurement noise (see Why IR illumination is necessary?).
LogiCool Webcam Pro 9000 (USB2.0)¶
- Pros
This camera can be controlled from SimpleGazeTracker OpenCV edition. That is, this camera can be used with Win, Mac and Linux.
No additional interface is necessary.
- Cons
IR illumination is necessary
Slow (30Hz)
Low adjustability
Built-in IR cut filter should be removed.
- Note
Inserting IR pass filter between the sensor and the lens would reduce measurement noise (see Why IR illumination is necessary?).
Point Grey Flea3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C (USB3.0)¶
- Pros
High-speed image capture (150fps in default, works at approximately 490fps depending on camera mode)
No interface board is necessary if your PC has USB3.0 interface.
Price is low considering performance.
- Cons
Captured image is noisy compared to ICL-B0620 at high fps.
Camera spped is not stable at high fps.
IR illumination and C-mount lens are necessary
- Note
Inserting IR pass filter between the sensor and the lens would reduce measurement noise (see Why IR illumination is necessary?).
